Hahahaha..... no true.

John-Mark came over this weekend with a surprise. A round, orange one. How exciting. We put in a lot of time and effort (3 hours!) and together created the single most spectacular jack-o-lantern that I have ever been a part of carving. I have included a picture for your viewing pleasure. Feel free to bask in its glow.

PS a prize goes to anyone who knows why this post has this seemingly unrelated, rather obscure title.

Goobers, or Raisinettes?

This is my last night in Alberta, and I would just like to state, for the record, that Sam and I are goobers.

I Hate Vaccums

And that is true.

Despite the fact that nobody ever knows how to spell vaccum (myself included), I am sure that the ones I have at the church hold secret meetings at night and conspire against me. "You stop working for no reason, and then I will start shooting dust everywhere for no reason, and then she'll have to use number 3" (which is torture in and of itself). Fortunately, I managed to outsmart them this time...

But besides fiascos with coffee and dust suckers (as they call them in Norway... thanks, Erika), I am very excited because at this afternoon I am getting on an airplane, and flying to Calgary to visit my dear beloved ex-roomie from bible school. AND THEN on friday, we are driving up to Welcome Back Weekend, where I will get to see a whole bunch of people I havent seen forever. Yay!

I Hate Coffee?

First, I know you are all shocked at the title of this post. I am too, a little. But, this is what ran through my head the other day at work. Heres why.
First, I was making coffee, and I pulled out the filter holder thing, so that I could put a fresh filter and grounds in. Apparently, someone had already done this. Im not sure what happened next exactly, but there were coffee grounds everywhere. On the counter, on the floor, in the burner, under the coffee maker, on me.... and just so you know, they are super fun to clean up.
Later that day, I returned to the coffee maker to check on the progress of a couple pots. The one wasnt dripping anymore, but the pot wasnt even half full. Hmmm... strange. So, the obvious next step is to pull out the filter and see what was going on. Little did I know that it was clogged, and when I opened it, I spilled a whole bunch of boiling hot water and coffee grounds all over the floor, the burner, under the coffee maker, down the wall, on me... Can you believe it? Twice in one day! Ridiculous. I was not impressed, and this is where, in my mind, I said to myself "I hate coffee". Later I apologized, and coffee and I are getting along like nothing ever happened, thankfully!

Stake out!

Ok, so, this post is a few days overdue, but I think it is still worth posting. On Saturday night, Ashley and I arranged a kidnapping. It was quite a complicated plan, which involved staking out our "victim's" house until she returned home from work at 9:30. So, we got inconspicuous disguises (we were unrecogniseable), drove to Langley, peeked in a couple windows (and a mailbox) until we found the right place, and then we waited in the car. We were very sneaky, slurping our BCF and reading newspapers in the dark.

At 10:30 or so, we decided that we should interrogate the parents. So we did. Then, with their help, we arrived at her place of employment, thus ending her shift. We took her away to the Walnut Grove McDonalds (the only one in the world that still serves chocolate ice cream) only to find that they, too, had removed the swirl come from the menu. Sam, if you are reading this, I am sorry. We had to get vanilla.

It like Sylvia?

Ok, so, I got a new haircut today. It is a lot different than anything Ive had before, but I think I really like it. Oh, and I forgot/they forgot to make me pay for it... so I have to go back in to do that. Oops. At least I have an excuse... blonde hair... no?

The Orkin man is drinking my coffee and wearing my glasses

Ok, so, three things noteworthy happened to me today.

1. I saw a real, live Orkin man! Can you believe it! I was just minding my own buisness, pouring coffee, when I looked up, and saw him sneaking around in the bushes looking for little buggies, I guess. But his uniform said Orkin on it... so he was the real deal.

2. I destroyed the second pair of contact lenses in a week. I have had contacts for 5 years, and I have never, EVER accidentally gotten one caught in the lid of the contact case, thus ripping a chunk off... until last week... and this morning. Isnt that bizzare? The thing that really gets me is that theese arent your average, throw-away-after-1-month contacts. They are $120 per pair wear-for-18-months contacts. Luckily, I got those two pairs for a deal... 2 pair for $140, but still. Im not impressed. I guess the good part is that I think I need a new prescription anyways... and its also good that I like my purple glasses. I mean, they are purple. Cool, no?

3. I got a letter in the mail today.... with a $5 Grab-a-Java card in it!! Woohoo!
